City to resurface Constantia Main Road

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate will be resurfacing Constantia Main Road, and a section of Alphen Hill Road over the next four weeks. The team will commence with kerb and channel repairs today, 24 November 2023 and the actual resurfacing work is planned for 2 December until 22 December 2023. 

'I am happy that our Roads Infrastructure Management team is able to resurface this busy main road before the end of the year. We are committed to providing the residents and businesses in the area with quality roads and ask that those making use of this road, remain patient while the roadworks are under way. Soon commuters in the area will be able to benefit from the new road surface along Constantia Main and Alphen Hill road,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The work will take place between 09:00 till 15:30 on weekdays and 07:00 till 18:00 on Sundays.

This project will include:

•        The repairs of kerb, channels and sidewalk paving;

•        Replacement and placing of new bituminous surfacing layers;

•        Installation of road signs and markings;

•        Reinstatement of traffic signal controls

Traffic will be accommodated in one direction during the day around the resurfacing works.
